We’re super excited you’ve decided to join us. Over the next few months we’re going to be sending you regular emails and videos that will help you along your health and fitness journey. We know that it can be challenging when you start CrossFit, but we also know that you can rise to the challenge. We just want to make sure we’re supporting you every step of the way!

An important part of every journey is having a destination, today I want to challenge you to find your destination. Achieving your health and fitness goals doesn’t happen over night, and it can be challenging (or else everyone would do it). Having a clear goal in your mind will ensure you keep on track. and It’ll help you get up on the days that you don’t feel like training, or avoiding binging when you’ve had a long day at work – think of it like having a reserve tank of motivation when you need it the most.

THE FIVE WHYS
The 5 Whys is a system originally used by Toyota. It’s a very simple idea that helps you get the core of why we want to to do something – don’t worry, there aren’t any wrong answers! The system works like this. When you set yourself a goal – you simply ask yourself Why – Why do I want to acomplish this? Then whatever answer you come up with, you ask why to that answer. You repeat this 5 times.

Here’s an example – summerholidayJenny wants to lose body fat and tone up

  1. Why is this important?
    So that she can look good in a Bikini
  2. And why is this important?
    Because she has a holiday coming up in Summer
  3. And why is this important?
    Because she’s been working hard, and she doesn’t want to go on holiday and feel uncomfortable in her body
  4. And why is this important?
    Because she wants to feel in control, and it gives her confidence
  5. And why is this important?
    Because when shes confident, she feels happy and she makes better decisions in her life.

Just by asking a few simple whys – we’re starting to get a clear idea of why we’re actually starting our journey – it usually has less to do with the numbers on a scale, or more to do how we feel. So now your turn.

Take some time today, to ask yourself WHY you’re starting CrossFit, and then your 5 Whys! Be Honest – we’d love to hear from you, but you’re also more then welcome to keep it personal. Once you’ve done this, write down your final Why on a piece of paper, and place it somewhere where you’ll always see it. Your bathroom mirror, your wallet, your computer screen. Any where, just remind your self of it daily.
