What is Crossfit?

CrossFit is:

‘Everything works for 2 weeks, but nothing works after 6 weeks…’ Bored of your Gym program? Need some variety? Every day that you arrive at CrossFit U we’ll have a new work out ready for you. The aim of our program is to improve your strength, agility, flexibility, power, speed, stamina, accuracy, balance, endurance, and coordination….  and you’ll also look good naked!

Functional Movement

are found in real life. We just teach you how to do them safely and with some weight. Have you put something on a shelf (then you’ve pressed), have you gotten off a toilet (then you’ve squatted), have you picked something off the ground (yep thats a deadlift).

Performed at High Intensity…

Don’t worry not all our sessions are like the crazy people you’ve seen on YouTube (some are!).  Intensity just means hard work…the harder you work, the more results you get. At CrossFit U, we make hard work easy by challenging our members with a workout that is a competition against yourself and others. ‘The challenge’ that is the CrossFit Workout of the Day (WOD) pushes you harder than you have worked before and results in a strong sense of comradery between our community members (our family!). At CrossFit U, we are all about the support, encouragement, and passion of and between our members!

Which means you’ll be doing a mixture of the following:


We pick things up, we swing them around, and sometimes we throw them as far as we can. When we say weightlifting, we just mean moving an external object. At CrossFit U we will teach you how to:

  • Snatch
  • Clean
  • Jerk
  • Press
  • Squat
  • Deadlift
  • Kettlebell Swing
  • etc…


Don’t worry, we won’t be having you doing any Iron Crosses (Yet!) – When we say Gymnastics, we mean the control of your own bodyweight. So at CrossFit U we’ll get you doing:

  • Push Ups
  • Sit Ups
  • Muscle Ups
  • Moutain Climbers
  • Grasshoppers
  • Pull Ups
  • Chin Ups
  • Cart Wheels
  • Handstands
  • and what ever else we can think of!

Cardio / Metabolic Conditioning

Running slowly for long periods of time is just plain boring, so at CrossFit U we do things fast! Of course running isn’t the only way to get you breathing hard, so at CrossFit U we’ll have you:

  • Rowing
  • Running
  • Skipping
  • Swimming
  • Burpees (YAY!)
  • and more….

We believe this is the fastest way to achieve a high level of fitness!
